Piestawa Peak is great, and it is the trophy trail in Central Phoenix, but the Phoenix Mountain Preserve is full of many amazing trails.

I lean towards trails that are less busy, which can be hard to do around here, especially in one of the most popular parks in the Phoenix area. Because of this, I typically try and avoid the Piestawa Peak Trail, and opt to explore other areas of the preserve.

I did this hike in January of this year and it was an amazing way to spend an afternoon in the desert. This section of trails also has many options for a longer hike, which is why it is one of my favorites.
