It has been an interesting couple weeks. From haboobs to tropical storms, the weather has been fantastic and it almost feels like summer is loosening its grip on our temperatures.
I’m sure I just jinxed it and we’ll have unseasonably high temps the second half of September, but a boy can dream. 🤦♂️
In this week’s edition:
More trail rescues…
What to do if you’re injured on the trail
Hiking at White Tank Mountain Regional Park
Thank you for being here, have an amazing week! 🙏

Mountain rescues continued…
Several times over the past couple weeks, distressed hikers had to be rescued from Valley trails, involving dozens of firefighters & the Phoenix PD helicopter.
I was visiting a friend on Friday near 44th Street & Camelback and noticed the helicopter above Camelback Mountain.
As frustrating as it is that this continues to happen each and every week this summer, I’ve decided to stop posting about it, as the rescue stories have taken over this site.
So, please be careful when venturing onto the trails, it may just be you needing a rescue.

Phoenix Summit Challenge
The details have been announced for the Phoenix Summit Challenge, and it will be taking place on November, 15th. Registration opens this week on September 10th. You can learn more at Phoenix.gov.

Waddell & Ford Canyon Trail
White Tank Mountain Regional Park has quickly become my favorite here in the Valley. It has a bit of a National Park vibe to it, and I typically am out hiking in the afternoon and before sunset, and it is a great spot for that time of day. (link)

Hiking in Arizona’s desert landscapes is one of the best ways to experience the outdoors, but accidents can happen even on familiar trails. A twisted ankle, a fall, or even a minor scrape can quickly turn a great day into a stressful one. Knowing how to respond when you get hurt on the trail can make all the difference.

Have you seen the drummer at Piestewa Peak? There was a post on Reddit recently (which has since been deleted), which garnered a lot of attention. The original post was not fond of the drummer, and a lot of other chimed in with their displeasure.
What do you think, is it ok to be playing an instrument, or a bluetooth speaker, for everyone to hear on the trails?
You can read the follow up article on this subject from PhoenixNewTimes.com or the article about the drummer from 2023 at KJZZ.com.

This property in Phoenix is just minutes from the trails in South Mountain.
It is a pretty cool custom home too!
